I have the need to recover a user's mailbox on exch 2007, and all i have is a backup of the information store. I'm under the impression that I can do this with a Recovery Storage Group. Thats all good, but is there any way to create this store group with a nice friendly wizard?

thanks

SBS2003 has a nice friendly wizard to help you create an RSG otherwise in "real" Exchange you need to right click on the server to create one.

Deleted mailbox rentention would mean you only needed to resurrect it rather than restore from backup unless you were using your beta product in production environment - it only RTM'd a fortnight ago.

Yea.....its a full out real exchange. The issue isn't so much that the mailbox was deleted, rather this person is using a mac and all of their e-mail disappeared and i need to restore it from an IS backup.

So were you using IMAP4, POP or "proper" Exchange on Outlook 2001? Which client?

In the end, I finally found/put togeather the steps needed to recover an IS to a recovery storage group....MS doesn't really have good write-ups about this that I've seen yet. If anyone needs them, e-mail me at rummystoli@gmail.com

OK, so it is full Exchange 2007 with problems immediately after it released to manufacturing. The help file is extremely complete but that did not help?

Can you not post here the problems you found? Once people start buying Exchange once it is commercially available, I'm sure someone will benefit from your findings.

If it was a Mac client running Outlook, OWA should have allowed recover deleted items, Entourage is notorious for this and you need to rebuild the database and if you are using another client, you do not say.
