so my computer was completely messed up so I had to do a clean install of XP. I have an HP pavilion 751n and it came with XP home edition. I installed XP professional and everything that had originally come in the computer was deleted. I am talking about the factory software and drivers. I had to install a sound driver such as vinyl driver in order to even get sound on this computer. Everything else is working perfectly since the software is easy to find online.
The problem I now have is that I need software to burn Cd's in this computer. I had the HP cd creator program but since everything was deleted I no longer have it. I searched the HP website and they only seem to have the upgrades, not the actual software. I also spoke to technicians and their only solutions is to order a recovery CD and reinstall everything with this.
anyone got a better solution for me??

is roxio compatible with my cd burner in this computer?? I had understood that only only type of software would work for the burner that came with the computer.

As long as you make sure the software supports windows just about any software should work with your burner. Ive never heard of only certain software working with certain burners but im not going to say its not possible but I figure if it does its probally just a company trying to be greedy and try to stop them from buying other software. I personally prefer nero but there are many burning programs out there you can choose. Ill give you a few.

Roxio(as alidabiri mentioned, Nero, easy cd, nti cd maker and you can find many of them. heres a few sites

Some OEM Nero disk that was shiped with a new CD Burner would only work with the drive that it was ship with. If you get a retail ver. of Nero or Roxio you will have no trouble. I like Nero.

No you do not necessary have to only use the orginal software.
If you do not want to spend any money why not try CdBurnerXP Pro3. It's a freeware program that support a lot of drives.
CdburnerXp

I have used this software with a few burners and it has worked most. The only one it did not work was a very early Hp 7100, mfg 1998. But since your is newer you probably will not have any problems.

Is the built-in XP CD Burning software of any use to you?

Were you supplied with a Recovery CD, or did you have a hidden Recovery Partition, that is no longer available?

If you had a Recovery CD, you might be able to install that and then upgrade it to PRO and recover your software that way.
