Recovering Information from Priv.EDB

Hi, I need help finding an answer.

I need to find out if there is anyway to recover the information in the PRIV.EDB file ( I don't have all the other files). I need to recover the users information in it.

You should be backing up your information store. Depending on the software you are using, you can either restore the whole file or individual mails.

Can you supply more info on what you are doing?

We were using Backup-Exec, and the agent didn't work backing up the information store (we are now getting a different package) . So the only file that was backed up is Priv.edb. My boss want to know if there is anyway to use just the Priv.edb to recover users inbox and contacts. and Import it into the new information store.

you say you had been using the backup exec exchange agent??? this should back up the priv whilst still in use.

If you close down the IS, it will be in a consistent state and won't need to roll its logs forward.

remember....if you restore an offline backup you will need to run isinteg otherwise the IS will not start.
