Recovering datafile using RMAN

I've never used RMAN in Oracle before, whenever i've had any problems with the database i normally restore from backup, which I know is not the Perfect solution.

I have the following problem with my test database, one of the datafiles hs been corrupted the exact error message is:

ORA-01122: database file failed verification check ORA-01110: data file d:\ORDADATA92\SENDATA\INDEX\SENDATA_INDEX

ORA-01200: Actual file size of 14624 is smaller than correct size of 15392 blocks

Can I use RMAN to fix the problem or do I restore from Backup? Personally I think this is a good time to start getting to grips with RMAN utility.

i you were not using RMAN before (to perform backup), then you cannot use it just now to perform recoveries
