Hello all

Exchange Server crashed over Xmas Hols.
Have re-built the server and can start all services but Information Store. Have run ISINTEG -PATCH and databases are OK. I get an Error Code 1276 in Event Viewer which seems to think the server is not named the same or something, but it definately is !!!

At the point of despair and getting shot by the MD ! Hope someone can help

Many thanks

Tim

When you reinstall Exchange Server, always use the directory name instead of the display name that is listed in the properties of the organization and site that were used in the original installation of Exchange Server.

On the crashed server, find the Exchange_Server_Setup.log, Open with notepad and find the first occurrence of the word "Creating." This section contains the original organization, site, and computer name.

You'll need to contact Microsoft on this one. They'll have you go through several places to rename the HOMEMTA to the new Exchange server name. The IS "encrypts" the name of the HOMEMTA so that it can only be used on that one system: ie, you won't be able to move the IS to another server running Exchange. There are certain utilities you'll have to use and it's a good idea to leave it up to Microsoft to restore it, otherwise you can make it inoperable for good.
