Anybody know of a way to recover the MS Oultook autofill cache file? We have a user that relied on the cache for their contacts instead of using their address book. Since Outlook has started a new cache does this mean the old *.nk2 file no longer exists? Thanks for any help on this.

You gotta admit, that's sorta funny. There's a reason why Outlook has a piece called "Contacts", and has MULTIPLE options to add an address to the contacts list. [lol]

And being that it's a cache file which is by nature a temporary file, I doubt there's any way of recovery other than typical data recovery methods. If there happen to be images of that entire system backed up on a regular basis, you might could go back, dig that out, and find the file. That's my guess, anyway. Can't say I've ever attempted to dig into any Outlook address cache file.

Thanks for the response. Apparantly when the *.nk2 file is corrupt or deleted Outlook just scrubs it and starts a new file. There is nothing there to recover. I did try a system restore but that didn't work either. All well, hope they learned their lesson. Comical that I got a slight evil eye when I suggested they use their contacts instead.
