Reload Windows and all software and chalk it up to experience. Software for that job would be specialised and cost a few dollars. Not only that but even with the software, you need to be experienced at the job....Dave
There is an unformat command in MS-DOS v5.0 through v6.22, though I am not sure what exactly you had used to format the system, but if you have done nothing else and have access to this command in either DOS or under Win 9x, I'd say give it a shot or do as davidelnormal said...
I should also point out that if this was formatted using Win 9x or something newer, there is this warning to go with my suggestion:
"This program was designed to only be ran in MS-DOS versions 5.0 to 6.22. If you have upgraded to Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, or any other Operating system this command will not restore any information but may possibly cause additional issues with the Hard Drive."

Teamaker - if you searched the forums - did you notice any other recommendations (I can remember seeing several, not too expensive - $30-40 - apps that other members have had success with).
This is one of them
I have tried several different recovery programs but none anywhere near as successful as the one that Wolluf has suggested with his link. File scavenger has a free download that will show you what would be recoverable. The free version, however, only recovers 32Kb of data. The full version is $39.
Is it worth it? How important is the data?
I offer this as a solution to my customers, with no guarantees. If they don't want to pay for it, and they caused the problem, then it can't be that important and I wouldn't spend any more time fretting over it.
I was looking for something about a program mentioned in another thread and this screen turned up. I suspect most of this is "pay for"-don't know anything about any of it-just pass it on in case it's useful.
