Try running consistency checks on your database and or scavenge your database.

May just be some internal links that have screwed up.

How can i do that?
For checking my consistency the database.
Sorry i'm very newbie in legato

Look at the Command-Line Reference for Legato - there is NSRCK programm that you can use it - just be carefull with it.

Yahdin;
In addition to running the "nsrck" above, try running the following: "nsrjb -HEv" (this will reset/resync your legato hardware and the nsr database file. Running the inventory may also be helpful to ensure that the index is updated.

If the problem continues; you may need to scan the media to recreate a true index of its content by running "scanner -i"
example: /usr/sbin/nsr/scanner -i /dev/rmt/drive_name.

yahdin: there is no information that tells what failed, other than that it did not recover any files.

Try running the recover using command line, and capture the output for review. For example:

- go the cloent that you want to recover data for
- recover -vv -s (backup server) -a (path and file to recover)

For example:

recover -vv -s backup_svr -a -d c:\temp c:\autoexec.dat

This will recover autoexec.bat and relocate it to c:\temp. The -vv will add more verbosity, so that you can see any detailed messages that might come up.

i saw a message from volumes status that say
"browsable suspect"
is this why i cannot recover my file?

Hi..
I tried again with verbosity, but the massaege appear is sama like before.

# recover -vvv -s networkr_svr -c networkr_client -d /home/user/test -R networkr_client -iN
recover>add /home/user/printer
1 file(s) marked for recovery
recover>list
/home/user/printer @ Mon Apr 21 15:00:15 2003
recover>destination
recover files into /home/user/test
recover>recover

Initiating remote recover to networkr_client from server networkr_server, this may take a while...
recover: recover: Total estimated disk space needed for recover is 40 KB.

recover: Recovering 1 file from /home/user/printer into /home/user/test

recover: Requesting 1 file(s), this may take a while...

recover: Error encountered on the following files by NSR server `networkr_server': can not read record 5219 of file 55 on LTO Ultrium tape3

recover: ./printer @ Mon Apr 21 15:00:15 2003

recover: Received 0 file(s) from NSR server `networkr_server'

recover: Recover errors with 1 file(s)

recover: Recover completion time: Mon May 5 15:07:30 2003

Recover completion time: Mon May 5 15:07:30 2003

Thx,
Yahdin

There's your problem:

"can not read record 5219 of file 55 on LTO Ultrium tape3"

It looks like a bad spot on the tape. Try recovering another file from this tape and see if you are successful.
