Recover data from relabeled tapes

I, as many, relabeled by mistake a bounch of tapes. As I look in internet I found the followin information posted a year ago (

Can some tell me if the procedure 605 describe actually works... I have mede a lot of test and none succesfully

I am a Networker novice. What is the function of an Index Tape and what are the consequences of relabeling one of two Index Tapes by mistake?
