Recording Macros Problem

When I go to record macros in Office 2007, I get the little tape recorder icon but I cannot record anything or do any actual steps. If I shut off recording things are back to normal.

Sorry, I am trying to record a macro in Word. Excel, Access, Outlook seem to be fine.

I can't record anything. I am trying to record keystrokes, sorting, formating , etc for a macro in VBA
