Recording Device for Small Office

Need to look for a cost effective recording solution for a company of 20 people or so. I need to allow them to record phone calls on demand. Not extensive in volume but need to archive these calls for legal/audit purposes. Thier system is currently a Executone but will be changing that and support it with a PRI w/DID's.

Cost is an issue - I know of some external devices you can put on the handsets of the phones that will save calls to a folder on a computer or network (USB Blast R1000 Recorder)but wanted to see if there was something more centralized that has a low price point.

Any small voice mail system do recording on demand?

I don't have any suggestions for something small at this point because what we use is large and uses the tie-in to the handset you speak of.

I just wanted to point out that you need to be careful of WHAT you use, because in order to be legal any recording device needs to emit beep tones on the line at intervals to let the other party know they are being recorded, or you need to clearly notify them (so it is on the recording) at the beginning of the call that they are being recorded.
 
Verint UltraExpress will handle from 8 to 96 phones. If you get a station side recorder the cards are software controlled so you just tell it the phone type and don't need a different card for each different pbx. Web based playback and can be installed on your own server hardware, calls can be stored locally on the server or on a SAN.

has recorders that will suit your needs. Also at 20+ phones several systems out there have the ability to record via the voicemail system. Avaya IP Office, Avaya Magix, Nortel BCM just to name a couple.

And as for notifying the other party, check your local laws since not all states/countries require any notification. If you are required by law to make notification, there are several ways to handle it.
 
Alliance makes a good recording solution. Cost effective.
 
TelStrat has a good product as well. We had a demo in house, easy to use/setup, and simple for the users to do.
