Record Lock in Win NT

My record locks does not work in Win NT. What should I do to ensure record lock is recognised by Win NT?
Pls help!

Make sure you execute the app from a shortcut and within the shortcut turn on the 'work in own workspace'. Remove ALL ntvdm's from task manager. Also make sure that your app quit's on exit. Christopher F. Neumann

and would like to know how to turn on the 'work

cannot find this setting in my shortcut's
'properties' screen.

You have to use a shorcut. There isn't any other way to set it. If you dont, you will start to see a lot of NTVDM and WOWEXEC processes (task manager). If they exist after you close your app, they still have a hook on the dbf. Christopher F. Neumann

I am already using a shortcut for this program.
I just don't know how to turn on the 'work in
own workspace' for the shortcut. The shortcut
itself was created in the application's folder
on the server and then copied to the desktop of
every workstation. Does the shortcut have to be
created from the xp machine? Also, does the
'compatibility' option in the shortcut properties
have anything to do with this?

Leave the compatibility OFF!

Right click the shorcut from within explorer
Select the shortcut tab
In XP also click the ADVANCED button

you should now see 'run in seperate memory space", make sure it is checked. Christopher F. Neumann
