What happens when a user has a record locked, and the the qinactive timer expires? Does the record get released when the session is terminated? Does the lock remain in effect with a non-existant job? or something else?

thanks

Mike,

I'm fairly certain that the lock is released when the job ends. Are you seeing something different?

I don't know for sure. Got an email from a sysadmin about WS time out and record lock. Just sent him an email asking for a bit of clarification.

thanks for the quick reply.

My experience has been that if the job goes away, the lock goes away with it.

Would there be any issues if commitment control was active?

Mike,

If the user got logged off prior to a COMMIT operation data could be lost. As far as locks go, I think the lock would still disappear when the session was logged off.
