Hi all

I've read a lot of postings here and I'm sure this will be an easy one for you!

Simple(ish) DB I'm writing, where a user will add a client record to a particular form. I want the DB to check to see if that client already exists and if so, displays a msgbox to that effect, and not allow them to duplicate the client...

TIA

Cliff

you can either enforce the rule on the tables themselves, i.e. set the particular field to no duplicates

or on the form itself, you can search for the specified record and test if the record has been found or not, however for this you'll need to write some code and put it in an event, but the advantage is you can then control your response to such entries much easier...
