I'm trying to move my database deployment to a new sql server, with a different name in a new windows domain. I was able to successully export and recreate the data store on the server end.

However, I can't figure out where to go to tell my adp file to point toward the new data store on the new sqlserver. When I try to open the ADP, it errors out saying it "can't find the SQL Server specified" etc.. - yet I can't find where to go to tell it.

I'm probably overlooking something simple....as usual

thanks - another issue. seems that the computer I'm trying to load the front end on only has access run-time installation - meaning I can't get to the database window(i don' think).

Is there anyway around this without having to license another full version of msaccess?

I tried making a copy of my original adp file, then going into file>connections and changing it there in the hopes that it would let me save it even if the other SQL name didn't exist on this network, but no dice.

Anything else I can try?

I haven't run into that issue. Make another post with that as the topic so that others on the Forum will see it.

thanks - will do

You could use the IP address instead of server name. This way, you could 'clone' the development server IP on your own network and, when deploying the adp on the production network, it will connect just fine.

I have also been trying to find a dynamic way to connect the adp, but the BaseConnectionString wouldn't let me (so far).

good idea to keep in mind for the future, though for the logistic of this one, I don't think it'll work

I guess I'm going to have to install a regular version of access somehow.
