Recommended surge protector and power conditioner?

I'm wondering what brand and model of power conditioner/surge protector tek-tippers might recommend. I'm hoping not to have to spend more than 300 to 500 bucks but need sure quality.

As they used to say about IBM: no one lost their jobs buying APC uninterruptible Power Supplies. The SMartUPS range is excellent.

APC is good. Belkin is also good. But all in all I would agree with tf1.
