know someone who just added two stores, they want the two remote sites to have access to server at primary site.

they have one windows 2003 server that will be used to host their accounting software, and used as file server, located at primary site.

4 XP Pro PCs at primary site, then 2 to 3 XP Pro PCs at the two remote sites.

this being a small business on a budget, can anyone recommend some relatively inexpensive VPN boxes they could use?

Linksys or Netgear?

What kind of connection to the internet?

Burt

main site will be cable, two remote locations, one cable, the other DSL.

They are probably modems, paella33...

Burt

yup, basic modem that comes with service with each.

Use a Netgear FVS318 Router, this will aloow you to creat a site to site VPN and they are cost effective. If you sites do not have a static IP from yuor ISP I suggest you look into getting one, otherwise you can use DDNS.

The Netgear FVS318's are good, but I also like the linksys RV series routers - they are a little more expensive, but have a very good feature/performance/price ratio.

thanks, I will look into those
