Can anybody recomend a mid-level Rip. Right now I have Viper 1.9. But I'm looking for a rip that has trapping. But I don't need the high end rips like Nexus looking for somethng less expensive.

Thanks,

Have a look at Best Colour from Germany. Software based, Windows 2000. What printer is it for?

Thanks for the reply...

I'm using the Viper Rip to go to the Agfa Avantra 25 Imagesetter for film.

I did just look up Best Colour but I think the rip from is more of what i'm looking for. (found it on Google over the weekend) Has trapping and a way to view traps before out putting the film.

Have you or anybody else used this before? Price doesn't seem too bad either, about 8,000 total.

Or maybe sugest something else like this?

You might want to check this one out: We use the Navigator NT to go directly to plate from a small LAN containing PCs and Macs. We seldom have trapping issue because most of it is done pre-RIP. We have been using it for several years and can see no faults yet, and pricing is around $5k

Thanks to you too Sparky44.

I'll read up on that one too.

We have the latest ECRM software running on a Mac System that goes to our MAKO CTP direct to plate system. Wouldn't recommend the plate system unless you have time to clean the processor. It is purple as hell and gets on everything! A huge mess.

But the ECRM software is fantastic.
