recognize key depression

how can i have a user press a key (left or right) and have the program recognize it (without an enter)

this program will be running in a loop; it should continue whether or not a key is depressed.

When keys get depressed, a good thing to do for them is get them some prozak. But the most difficult thing to do is notice when they are becoming depressed. If there were a way to PreTranslate the Message it would be fabulous.

I guess i should have been more straight forward

the function PreTranslateMessage will intercept the key strokes.
