I defrag my C drive about once a month. It used to complete - no issues.
Now it completes but says
"some files on this volume could not be defragmented"
"Please check the defragmentation report for a list of these file"
But there is nothing in the list - this is the report
So I searched the internet & this site. This is what I have tried so far, to no avail.
Defragged in safe mode - no change.
Scheduled a chkdsk at re-boot - no errors found
Quit the AVG control centre in case its antivirus related activity - defragged again - no change
Done a full virus scan - no problems reported.
So I started thinking what may have changed since I last did a defrag?
I've installed Nokia Data suite
I've installed a bluetooth dongle
Microsoft update did it's thing on update Tuesday
I realise it's no big deal having a few fragmented files on drive C - But as it used to defrag 100% no issues - this has got me curious.
So I'm wondering - has anyone else come across this recently and if so have they found a solution that doesn't involve buying a third party defrag tool?
I have been known to be wrong.
The best way to thank someone who helps you is give them a star.
