Hi there.

I have just helped a customer set up an auto attendant, and have everything configured happily. However, they informed me that they are not receiving the name / number of the calling party.

I had the C.O. folks verify that name number delivery was on the line, I have my auto attendant set for 2 rings to allow for the delivery time for the CLID.

When I look in my BCM Monitor for the incoming calls, all I see is ? - ?.

I have used a phone that I know the name and number are not blocked in, and I still get the number not being delivered.

In a previous thread, someone said that the lines have to be set to appear and ring on the customer set; however the customer does not want the line to ring.

Is there any other way to get the name / number to the customer? Some other option in the pbx?

Regards

I believe BCM monitor shows what the LEC is sending. If you're showing ? - ? then they're not sending calling party information.

Did you specify you were looking for incoming, not outgoing, caller ID information when talking to the LEC? What sort of circuit is it? T1, PRI, BL ...

Hi there.

I'm actually part of the ILEC here.... grin... so I actually went upstairs and confirmed that the options for name / number delivery were on their lines. So yes, I told them to check for incoming name / number delivery.

These are regular copper pairs, which are attached at a demarc and then connected to the PBX.

I haven't ruled out that the people who are calling in have blocked their name / number delivery, but just wanted to make sure I covered all of my bases first.

Regards

Update: I turned on, on one set only for testing purposes "Appear and Ring" and then checked the Caller ID checkbox.

The customer said that when the line went through the auto attendant, she saw "Line 1 - transfer".

I am going to have her test with a line which she knows delivers name and number tomorrow to see if that gets through.

Regards

To quickly test to see if the clid info is being sent, connect your butt set to the line and just listen when the call comes in. You should hear a short burst of data incoming between the first and second ring cycle. If you don't hear anything, then the CO equipment is not sending it. If you do hear it, try rebooting the BCM (but also check to see it is up to date on patches first).

Hi telcodog.

As I am approximately 2.5 hours from the site (it is a mine in the middle of nowhere...) putting my buttset on the line ISN'T an option. And the tech who installed it is up to his ears in alligators.

When they were just connected directly to the DMS they got name number delivery ok.
