Will be replacing old BCM soon and have a question on a technical issue.

The main number is currently analog and I want to port it to their existing PRI. The number is 425-291-9700.

The current circuit is sending 4 digits.

The existing DID’s are 425-291-4920 thru 4959

Porting 9700 will interfere with dial "9" out, correct? Is the only option to change circuit to send 5 digits? branch will not agree on dial 8 out after all these years. Suggestions appreciated.

One last option I have had the CO transpose the first digit from 9 to say 5 and you do not have to do anything except program a target line to recieve 5700.The caller will still dial 9700 but the co will send you 5700.

As long as they dial the old number and it has to be sent to the PRI, I still say your going to need 1 call path for every call you want to have at the same time on that old number. If anyone can tell me how to get around that please post it.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

It is my understanding, if the CO has to take this old number (425) 291-9700, and port it over the PRI as (425) 291-4920, and send DNIS 4920, it will require paths.

But, if you take a number out of your DID range, in this case 4959, and insert 9700. With the CO sending DNIS 9700. You do not require Paths.

Can anyone confirm or deny and help ace and I out of this predicament?

I have done this at 6 sites that move locations and added a PRI or just added a PRI and we sent the Old Copper Cot Phone number to the first DID number on the PRI and some phone companys gave us 5 paths automaticaly and others we had to ask for them and some gave them for free and some charged $3 a month. So it looks like there is no standard across the country.

Ok here is what I have had happen in the past with me.

1) If I was having the CO just forward a number for me to one of my DID numbers then yes I had to have multiple paths which was additional charges.

2) But if they took that same number (as long as my DID circuit was with them also) and just had it ride in on a DID number then I could take as many calls as I had channels with no additional charge.

I was using Verison at the time, so really if you check with your provider they should be able to give you options.
