Does anyone know how to change the data directory in rebuildm.exe? The default directory is not the data directory that we use, and I need to restore files from tape....

Thank you!

Update if it helps someone....

I could not find a way to change the data directory, so I uninstalled SQL 7 using add/remove programs, and then immediately reinstalled it specifying the correct data directory. This re-created the master and allowed me to then restore.

just a note: you don't have to use your default data directory. You can use any drive/directory for your data.

also, you can restore data from tape and put the restored file in any directory. just use the 'WITH MOVE' option in your restore command.

Dear Andel-

Thank you for telling me it is possible, but I could not find a way using the two tools I used to restore:

1. rebuildm.exe (data directory is filled in and unchangeable)

2. Arcserver 2000 for tape restore-if you try to use other than restore to original location, the agent was not invoked and the restore failed....

Kelly :)
