Had another crash (i love obsolete hardware) and finally got the server up and running again but my indexes are lost and (of course) i have a director needing a restore.

I can't remember at the moment how to read in the tapes in the library to force the server to rebuild the indexes.

I think I want "nsrck -L7" but I'm wondering if there is a way to do that for only 1 client to start with.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanx.

What's your current status. Did you already recover the bootstrap?

I am pretty sure they did recover the bootstrap since the devices are all listed, and all the clients are there, just no indexes. At least not any from the client they want a restore off of.

The bootstrap recovery does not recover the client file indexes.

Make sure that the jukebox has been inventoried.

To recover the latest CFI of a client, simply run "nsrck -L7 client". Do not forget to monitor your server as it could wait for missing tapes.
