I have a Toshiba Tecra 8000 laptop, which I use windows millenium on. The problem that I have is that when I try to startup I only get the initial WinMe startup image, and then my machine reboots itself. This happens over and over again.Randomly I can get into the operating system. Sometimes when starting up it detects “new hardware found” for several hardware items. The problem just seems to get worse. I have formatted my hard disk, and installed WinMe again, but the problem suddenly occurs again. I have tried with different hard disks, so that’s not the problem .-How can I find out what kind of hardware failure is causing this problem?

Have you recently installed a digital camera onto the system ???

Just a theory, but I had the same problem with 2K after I installed a camera using 98 drivers (DUH !!!)

Thanks for the reply. But the only software I run are: Office, jdk, acrobat reader, rational rose + a few more. I still think it is hardware related but i'm not sure.

thanks for your help. I finally found out what the problem was........one of my RAM chip that was playing games with me.
