Is there a way to set a server to reboot nightly??

Use the windows scheduler to run the following command nightly. We do it and it works great

C:\WINNT\system32\tsshutdn.exe /reboot

Why?

Just curious -- I thought rebooting was to be avoided on servers, as a rule.

Well shaftoe, if you have good applications, it isn't necessary. Between Windows and other apps that ususally not the case and alot of problems can be avoided with regular reboots. I have one that reboots twice/week, I would be hesitant to do daily.

I feel I should provide a little warning here. Windows servers are notorious for not booting if disk space on the boot volume is < the amount of physical RAM.

So if it's at all possible - checking available space on the boot drive before reboot would be a good thing.
