I think you have posted this file in another thread.

I know I have seen that "Click here to enter text" line before - although I can not remember which thread (or where).

I can open the file you posted. It does not come up stating it is corrupt. Mind you, there is nothibng in it except that text "Click here to enter text."

Don't understand that....

This is my first post in this forum...it's a document with about 30 sites or so and i can't open it....you can?

I tried doing a "Recover Text from" and all I got was 11 pages of garbage.

The file is rather a mess! I have managed to recover something from it, but I don't know if it's any good - it seems to be in German and I can't make any sense of it - maybe it's all rubbish - anyway, it's the best I can do. I have put it temporarily on my webiste, here:
Enjoy,
Tony

Yes, German....Thank you....the End is missing, but ok....

BUT: HOW did you do that?

Ooops, could help if I tried to open the right file...

Interesting. I get:

This is a pre-release of the Compatability Pack and can only open pre-release Office files only."

What is interesting is that I have used the installed file converter to convert a number of very recent docx files.

I do not have Office 2007 and I am getting the same message (Office 2003 with Compatability Pack). I downloaded the latest and still get the same message. I have opened other documents with this compatability pack before. Very Odd?!?

BUT: HOW did you do that?
Mending broken documents is a bit of an art rather than a science, and it usually needs an understanding of the zip file structure.

I didn't study it closely but there was a block in the middle that looked like it had been overwritten with part of another zip file, and several of the members of the zip archive were broken. The length, and the CRC, of the main document part reflected (presumably) the original length but the data ended abruptly where it was overwritten. I changed the length and the CRC so that the archive could be opened, removed the document part, deleted some scrambled data at the end and added some end tags to make the xml valid. I then placed the part in another document. That was it - took about 10 minutes.

Enjoy,
Tony

Was it saved to a memory stick or some other removable drive?
