Hi Guys
we are trying to use SMDR output for Caller Line Identification. However, in most telephone systems this output is only available on Call termination.
For our purpose we need to get partial SMDR data when the call is answered (e.g. Extension, and Caller Number).

I have heard that there are telephone systems which support
such configuration on their SMDR output.

Could anyone please confirm whether this is true or not. And if true, some hint of a make and model number of such switches.
many thanks in advance for your kind help.
Reza

Panasonic KXT systems from the TD forward (TD, TAW, TDA) have this option in the SMDR string as AN and RC options.

In addition, there are some CTI applications on the TDA.

Many Thanks LkEErie for your help

If it is not a big trouble, Could you please direct me to one or two links where I could get a technical manual on one of these models or a description of SMDR protocol in this mode.

Best Regards
Reza

I knew that such switches are available and that's why I took the forum's time to get more information on specific models in particular Panasonic ones.

Anyway, our problem is that we can use the information on COM port output (RS232), since the application we have can only accept the information coming from a COM port.

As far as I know this excludes the TAPI option for us since in TAPI the client should have a TCPIP link with the TSP software?? Please correct me if I am wrong and it is possible to have CTI or TAPI output (events) on a RS232 COM port.

Many thanks for all your help

if you have a -4 kx-td all you need to do is have the same null cable you program with and load the drivers go to advanced options in modem tab tell the pc what com port you have the td connected to and reboot the pc and set outlook phone options so it dials out on your ext in dropdown menu and make some test calls note you may need a 9 prefix

Hi Guys

Many thanks for still providing help on this issue.
However, as I mentioned TAPI at the moment is not our immediate issue.

I am more interested on Real-Time SMDR output and particular Panasonic Switches, which support this output and mode of operation.

You have provided some hints with some Panasonic Switch Ranges rather than Specific model numbers.
For Example, does KX-T D1232 (Not Sure if it is a right Model Nr.) support such Real-Time SMDR on it?

Since this thread was mixed up with TAPI and also Standard SMDR (SMDR output only available on Call termination), I am not sure which range really support REAL_TIME SMDR (i.e. SMRD output when Call being answered, CLI and Ext. Nr.)

Could please someone make this more clear.

Best Regards
Reza

if you mean does it spit out smdr if you have go to a log file yes

If you know Panasonic in any way, TD forward means TD, TDA, TA, TAW, and TDE.

Perhaps a dealer visit would be easier for you to understand the programming.

Thanks CWC3 for immediate reply.

No, I am familiar with the format of SMDR Record once it has been written to the log file.

The feature we are after is as follow:

There is and external call received by the switch and it gets switch to extension 123.
If now we monitor SMDR port, we would like to see the CLI and Extension of this call on SMDR port as soon as the Call gets answered on ext. 123.

Please confirm whether this is possible and if yes which Panasonic Switches support this type of SMDR.

Sorry for the repeat of the problem. I hope I have made a bit more clear.
Best Regards
Reza

Please tell me that your ESL course work is still ongoing.

What part of AN and RC don't you understand? Are you asking these questions because you own a TD-1232? Did you read the manual? Did you search for AN and RC?

YES IT WORKS. YES YOU SET THE BITS. YOUR QUESTION WAS CLEAR AND CLEARLY ANSWERED SEVERAL POSTS AGO.

Many Thanks again LkEErie for all your help so far.

Just to make my situation and position clear, i am just a poor software programmer who knows nothing about PBX or telephone sw. in any depth or details.

What I have been asked by my manager, is to verify which Panasonic Switches would work with our application. The type of data our application expects from the PBX is as I have explained above (Real-Time SMDR on COM port).

The programming of the Switch for this mode of Operation is going to be done by the telephone Engineers who will supply or are marinating the switch to/for our customers.
I do not have any role in this.

What I need is to Know is whether the switch they are providing or already exists at the customer's site is suitable or not.

That's why I disturbed the forum’s time to get my nose into this stuff!

Please explain this in a simple language so I would be able to provide a reliable answer to my manager.
As I mentioned one particular switch in question right now is KX-TD1232

I really appreciate your help and patience with me
Regards
Reza

Y-E-S the td-1232 does what you are asking. Please don't ask the same question again.
