Hello there.

I am totally new to Delphi. I used to use Pascal as a start, got pissed off and switched. I just wanna know if it is possible to run a clearscreen command in the console application mode. This is really important as I first want to get the hang of the coding before I start on the Win Applications.
Thanks alot. U guys always help me so much

Lateral thinking here: coding for Delphi console apps is an art in itself, so I suggest you just get going with some practice gui apps, which is what Delphi is all about. So much is automated, but you can also see the resultant code and learn from it (and the Help files) as you go (unless you actually want to develop console apps!)

I agree
Going back to your origanal question it has been asked before, but not satisfactoraly answered.
Originaly Delphi included a libray which included a ClrScr command but this libray is not shipped with newer versions of Delphi.

Delphi's support for Console applications has reduced with each new addition. I aggree with Mark.
Programming these days has a lot to do with producing something user friendly (include yourself as a user).
Console applications hark back to the days of DOS.(not user friendly at all) Go ahead and do some GUI's, you will learn more about the Object Oriented side of Delphi, and thats also important for modern programming.
Steve.

Well, thanks guys. Although I dont actually have patience for things like it, but I will keep on buggering around on the GUI apps. I really need some basic help though, is there a place on the web where I can get a sort of a "Beginners crash course" or something for free?
The tutorial helped a bit, but not much, only a few functions are used and even they confuse me (I've been using Turbo Pascal for too long)
Thanks again OzObdrOl

a book like teach yourself delphi in 21 days would be a good place to start. I started there myself

Try but teach yourself Delphi in 21 days is a must. I also started out with Turbo Pascal, stopped in 1992 wit programming and in 97 started with Delphi.

The first thing you have to learn in delphi is to convert numbers to string. Your output will always be related to some type of string, like editboxes, labels etc.

Maybe a good cleaning cloth and some Windex will do the trick.

Sorry, just kidding
