HI

After a lot of work and research I finally got an .iso file from Symantec that should boot my computer into the Ghost program at startup.

I have literally gone through a dozen CD-Rs trying to do this.

I started out using Easy CD Creator 8. When I just copy the .iso file to the CD I get the .iso file on the disk but the disk isn't bootable.

When I use the Burn Image to Disk then instead of the .iso file I get the contents of the .iso file burned to the disk so it still won't boot.

I went to the Roxio Forum and the general consensus is that you can't make a bootable disk with Easy CD Creator 8. Why did I spend the money on this software?

So I found a freeware program, Active@ ISO Manager. It doesn't have any utility to just copy the .iso file to a disk but I can extract the file and make a new one.

This still doesn't work because it won't let me create the new .iso file on a CD only to a folder on my drive so I'm right back where I started.

I already have the .iso file that will boot my computer. How in the *#%^# do I get it onto a bootable CD so it will start my computer and let me run Ghost?

Any help Greatly, Greatly appreciated.

Mike

Nero has done this for years.
I know that ver 5 or 6 has an option of "Burn image to Disk"

I assume that you don't have the original Ghost CD as that should be bootable.

I an not sure of your level of experience, but are you sure your PC is set to boot from CD? Depending on the manufacturer you may need to change some BIOS settings as to boot order or press a function key during the POST process.

I've got the same problem. My Nero will not burn ISO. And my startup is set to boot from the cd-rom.

What is stopping your Nero burning an ISO?

Have you tried the "Burn Image to Disk" option as mentioned by JimInKS?

Hi

No my computer will boot from the CD but the original Ghost disk will not boot it because it doesn't have the necessary drivers on it. It hangs at the “Please Wait” screen. That's why Symantec made me a new .iso file.

I just can't get it burned to a disk in a bootable format.
If I select burn image to disk in Easy CD creator it makes a disk with the contents of the .iso file not the .iso file it's self.

And just copying it to the disk doesn’t work, something else has to be done to the disk during the creation process to make it boot.

I've been burning bootable ISO's with Roxio for quite some time...

If you go into Creator Classic, then do a "Burn from image", load the ISO, and burn it, it should work.

Ummm.... there is an option for selecting whether the format is Joliet or ISO9660.... perhaps you're on the wrong one?

Hi

Success at last!!!
I downloaded a share ward program named Deep-Burner and used it's Burn ISO Image app and it worked.

I made two disks and booted fine, I don't know why the ones from Easy CD Creator don't boot. They both looked exactly alike in Explorer.
But when I looked at the Roxio Forum I found a lot of other people having the same problem, as I said the general consensus seemed to be that CD Creator 8 wont do it and the older ones will.

Anyway it works; this has been a process that has taken almost a week to complete what with getting an ISO file that would work and getting the disk made.

What a relief

I haven't been able to make a bootable CD since 2001. I have no idea either so I just basically use the old cd I have and made copies of it. A friend of mine told me it has to do with the boot image file or something that's causing all my problems. I have wasted at least 10 CDr's trying to make it and just finally gave up and just continue to use the bootcd that I made years ago. Also you could try some of those free images people are posting with free utilities. Those tend to work.

I always used CD Burner XP Pro and have never had problems.
