We are in the food industry service. Customers order our product on-line and pick it up on site.

The idea is to have our sales order taken on the website and have the inventory (the ingredients) be deducted right then.
But when customers order, they are ordering recipes so we need something in the Inventory system to calculate the amt of ingredients from each recipe needed to be deducted from the inventory.
We would also like to be able to track customer movement on the website and categorize them so we can send promotions, newsletter, emails, etc.

A all-in-one system would cut the time of importing and exporting data from one system to another. That's what we are looking for. Any suggestions of good service providers?
Thanks in advance,
Ninka

Since you didn't get any replies, I think that what you want may not be that availble. If you have a web site, and an inventory program that does what you need now, you might want to look at Ascential's DataStage RTI or TX products. Several online companies use these products to integrate the systems they have, so they get best of breed for each system, rather than compromise on say web site vs. inventory.

Well, thats seems to be hard and boring idea. Why don't you just write small app. as front service and integrate it into your back-end inventory DB. The front end sevrice should have database which contains the ingerdients amount/quantity for each recipe which you selling.

That would be easy solution and itr will work 100 percent and will cost you cheap tooo.

Maybe becasue self developed apps are tough to maintain, maybe they don't have the in house expertise and dislike hiring a one ot two person shop for custom work since they tend to go out of business? Boring is something good in business. They don't need the exitement of unplanned outages, strange and sometime damaging results, etc.

Look at all those big custom projects with some of the biggest consulting companies that go down the toilet. Yet you don't here about all the small successes when a company uses off the shelf software and has no problems.

Just my $.02
