I want to create a visual basic 6 script that reads in an emails text to process is. Also, is there a way to have a macro run on the opening or receival of an email. All help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Very vague request.

what email program
what processing want do

In other words you need to post more specifics on what you are trying to accomplish.

Have a look at the outlook objects.

Thanks

One more thing. When you say a "visual basic 6 script" I'd say you're unaware of the distinction between VB 6 and VBScript. You might investigate the difference, and if you are in fact wishing to write a script, that's a different forum.

I am using outlook 2000(visual basic 6) and I am looking to create a script that reads in data either from an attachment or the email body itself. the data will be in .csv format. It will be calendar data and I want to create a calendar event in outlook for each of these events. I want to know what objects might come in handy and how to make the macro run on the recieval of an email.
Thanks for all the help in advance.

Outlook 2000 uses VBA not VB6 - try forum709. Also read faq222-2244 to see how to get the best from these forums.

There you go, I kind of figured you'd get better help in another forum.

Ok ...

Start Outlook (this is for Outlook 2003). Select

Tools/Macros/Visual Basic Editor

In the resulting editor select

Help/Microsoft Visual Basic Help

In the Help window, expand 'Programming Concepts'. Work you way through that section, it should provide much of the info you are seeking (inlcuding how to respond to the opening or reception of an email)
