Reading a tape 1

Is it possible to take a tape someone else has produced from their commvault server and "import" it into your server?

Appreciate any docs/direction on where I could find info on how to do this if it's possible.

No. It would be viewed as a new tape.

Hi

Think you should be able to use Media Explorer to recatalog the media..search for 'Import Metadata from a Tape or Optical Media' in your Books Online.

You will also need the Media Password if it has been used.

if you have access to their commserve you could potentially use the commcell migration feature to import certain clients that are associated with that tape.

if no access then you would need to look into using media explorer - or potentially a third party.
