haas anyone got any experience with reading Visio file, reading objects and links between them?
i am considering using this as a method for creating logic in memory to later be used for an admin task.
i know its a big ask but does anyone have any advice on this? i dont want to go down the road of looking into the Visio object model if it doesnt have the capability, thanks

Visio does have some capability to export to MS Access. You can see some of this in the example(s). I have set up database tables for (as an example) company hirearchy (Whos' Aho in hte Zoo?) by generatinghte org chart in visio and having it export this to MS Access. Other threads herein also reference using visio to generate db models (relationships) or to use to extract relationship diagrams and re-arrange" them for the pretty-print process.

You mention using the output for " ... creating logic ...", which smacks of generating code from flow charts. If so, this would appear to be a daunting task. Presumably, you would have a GOOD grasp of the target language (VBA-Access) - including any (er - ALL) addins/libraries/references which might be instantiated throught the "logic" you would generate?

While VISIO does have the capabiility to export (to MS Access) the blocks and conections (along with their attributes), it would seem that this would provide only the logic of a program, not the processing steps between these steps unless you buile custom components in visio which woulf include the processing steps. Whjile htis cretainly can be done, how is it different from just going ahead and coding that which you would be detouring through visio to do?
