One of the office managers informed me that there users have found out a way to read an email but prevent the respond to the read receipt. Even though the read receipt is set to perform automatically via group policy.
User A sends an email to user B requesting a read receipt on the message. User B opens his outlook up and clicks on the new message. Reads as needed in the preview panel then deletes by using the Delete on the keyboard. User A will never get a response back stating the message was read.
If user B was to double click on the message and have it open a new window user A will get a message stating it was read.
If user B was to click on another email and read it then the first message is considered read and user A will get a response saying it was read.
If user B was to simply close out of outlook after previewing the email then user A will get a response back saying it was read.
The only time user A does not get a response back is if the message is read and deleted in that order as noted above.
Is there any way to fix this? Is it a problem or a feature?
Currently have Outlook 2003 and 2007 using Exchange 2003.
Thanks for any and all advice
