Hi Guys,
Got a good one here. I have a user (User 1) who has Win XP Pro and Office 2003 Running. On his C:\ he has a folder which is shared over the network. If he opens this folder and opens a file it opens correctly and he can modify and save OK.

When another user (User 2) opens the share, and opens a document within the document also opens without a problem. They can modify and save.

When User 1 opens the document again after Use 2 has closed it, the Excel document opens as Read-Only, and wont allow him to make changes. How can this be corrected?

1) I have ensured permissions are set up on share for Everyone with all rights
2) I have read the MS knowledge Article 328170 and followed steps up to installation of hotfix.

Any help would be great, its a strange one!

What security groups are the users in? It sounds like maybe User 2 is taking ownership of the file. Is User 2 an Administrator?

If all else fails, read the directions.
If that fails, REBOOT!
