HOW CAN I CHANGE DOCUMENT FILES THAT CANNOT BE SAVED TO DISC BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY ARE READ ONLY? NOTHING IS CHECKED FOR THEM TO BE READ ONLY.

THANKS

Try File - Save As and put them in a different location.

THANKS. I TRIED SAVING IT ON DESKTOP AND THEN SAVE TO DISC. STILL SAYS READ ONLY.

Right click the newly saved file, and choose properties. There you may be able to uncheck the "Read-Only" checkbox.

THANKS. DID THAT. THE ONLY THING CHECKED IS ARCHIVE.
NEXT?

1. Please do not use full caps. Thanks.

2. You seem to imply that you can save to the desktop. saving to the desktop implis that a file was saved. Please confirm. Go to your desktop folder location and work on that file; OR please clarify if you did in fact save to the desktop.

3. Please answer sawedoff questions regarding file extension.

4. Please confirm that the title bar of the document explicitly states "Read Only".

5. If it is a Word document, are you required to use a password to open in the first place?

6. If it is a Word document, what is showing under Tools? Does it show a menu item "Protect document", or a menu item "Unprotect document"?

7. It is also helpful when asking for help to state the application you are using (Word, Excel), as well as version (97, 2000, 2002, 2003).

Thanks.
