The page I'm working on has a grid with a column of drop downs, a description column and a fee column. What I need to do is to populate the description and fee when the dropdown changes. Do I have to retrieve the whole page again to get it to refresh? and where do I find an event for the dropdown.
Sorry if this appears a bit simple and obvious to you, it doesn't to me.

And particularly

Yip, they're playing... what was that game again - OH yes, cricket? At least England had the excuse of almost making it despite giving away 4 points - we just threw ours away.

As for doing it in Javascript with PHP providing the data - yes you can. The down side is you either have to send all the data to the client initially (OK of it's not much), or refresh the page to reload the data.

The advantage of remote scripting is you can get data from the server based on user selection or interaction *without* reloading the page. More importantly its a new, rare technology that makes you look super cool and places your site/app in a very exclusive club ;-)

Some day all sites and web-based apps will be built that way.

Cheers
Richard

also as it is a new technology it can be a bit buggy, some browsers can get a bit itchy about it too I learned a bit yesterday, today i learned a lot, imagine what i'll learn tomorrow!
