Re my ? w.r.t. keeping my d: drive when reformatting the c: drive

Sorry ... in case it isn't evident, the c: & d: drives are both on the hard drive.

well if you format c:, then d: wont be touched. c and d are different partitions and you can safely format one without changing the integrity of the other whatsoever.

if i understood you question correctly. next time do try to be more clear and extend a bit.
 
What are you doing now?
I thought you had your reformat done in a previous thread.

Sorry about the confusion. The short statement I made about the c: & d: drives was submitted immediately after my original request for help. Anyway, this thread is now moot and should just be ignored because everything has been very nicely remedied.

I just don't know how to go about having this one removed from the forum!
