I'm running W2k SP4 server and 150 W2k SP4 clients. When a machine becomes inoperative I will "Ghost" it with a sysprepped image for that hardware and rejoin it to the domain. I'm able to login to the domain and the user policies will apply but the computer policies do not. My computer policies are that MS Office and VirusScan gets installed from the server and that user profiles are deleted when the users log out.

What's the proper procedure to perform so that my computer policies will work?

Thanks.

What is the error that you see in the Applicatio log? Has this ever worked?

does you clone have sysprep ran on it? Or do you run sysprep on it after you dump the image? you need to run it so that it strips the SID's down and recreates them so they are unique.

I get errors or event ids 1000, 5719, 2504, 2505 which squawk about duplicate names on the network, unable to find server "xxxx", can't determine user or computer name...

All of which makes no sense to me because I'm still able to login and what's more infuriating is that if I install the apps the policy is supposed to install... when I restart the apps are reinstalled by the policy. This does not happen on all my machines.

I'm running WINS, DHCP and DNS.

And to answer Speedracercjr, yes my images are sysprepped properly before I save the image.

Everything rolled out great. I'm trying to work out proper restoration procdures.
This should be working seemlessly.
