Hi Everyone!

I would like to get your input on the following.
Please give me you honest opinions in the process that I'm planning to do.

Here is my current situation?

I'm planning to upgrade my current DC which is currently running on windows 2003. Ill be installing a new 2012 DC and promote it to be the primary DC. After promoting the 2012 server into a DC, I would like to re assign the IP address of the old domain controller (windows 2003) to the new one (Windows 2012), in order to avoid re configuring many of my statics devices with a different IP.

Do you think I will run into any issues by having the IP address of the old DC assigned to the new one. Of course the old DC will have a new IP and will be decommissioned soon after.

Please let me know.
Thanks

If it is anyting like the one I just did, you will have to change your DNS so that the names match the IP's on the servers you are changing. The area I had trouble with was DefaultFirstSite.

Dave.
