I have removed ARCServe 6.6? from an NT4 server using the ARCServe uninstall option (as advised - rather than the control panel/add remove programs option).

When I attempt to re-install ARCServe 6.61 for Windows NT the install software says:

"Some ARCServeIT components are detected, which must be stopped for proper operation. Do you wish to continue?"

If you select continue - the install program seems to hang.
If you select no - ARCServe is not installed.

I have ensured that all previous arcserve directories were remove, and have also checked the registry and made sure that there are no entries there, and finally there are no 'obvious' services left running which would interfere.

Does anyone have any idea what components have not been uninstalled and how to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Go into Services and ensure that there are no Arcserve services started. From memory, the Job Scheduler, the Database, and the Tape Service should all be in there. If they are in there and are started, set the startup option to manual for all three and reboot your server (if you try to stop them, you may get that hanging feeling again).

Try your install again after the reboot. -----------------------------------------------------

I have checked the services and there are no ARCServe services running.

um. reboot. then try again. and dont forget to kick the server. it should work then. :)
