Quick question, have a call pilot with 2 mailboxes and I can't get the IP address. I'm I correct that if I re-initialize the voice mail the IP address should re-set itself to the default IP 192.168.110.1?
As far as reinitializing the CallPilot, this will not change the current IP address. As Marv wrote, you can see the IP address through the serial port using Hyperterminal at the first screen during bootup.
thanks for the info on the reinitializing not changing the IP address Exsmogger.
I have the RS232 dongle but my problem is this new Laptop of mine, figuring how to go to hyperlink. Windows 7 HP Laptop, sure miss that old IBM Think pad with RS232 connection. Also I know I can't use a usb to Ethernet converter.
so I was able to activate telnet off my laptop, now do I need to figure out which USB port the telnet will communicate with, i have 2 USB ports on the left and 1 on the right side of my computer
If you start your HyperTerminal and go to FILE - PROPERTIES
Under "Connect using", you should see the list of available COM port.
when I use my USB to SERIAL adapter, I usually get a COM port 8 or 9 ... depending on which USB port I use on my laptop.
I printed out the faq799-5226 and will see what I can figure out Maggoo26, now that I have HyperTerminal I feel it should be a matter of time I figure it out. Thanks
Windows 7 doesn't come with HyperTerm - or any terminal emulator for that matter.
Just download PuTTY (free) and use that for a terminal emulator. I use it all the time for serial port stuff (along with telnet, SSH, RLogin for accessing Option 11c's on a network, etc...).
I was able to turn on Hyperterminal off my Windows 7, it's built in but not turned on, just needed a check mark to activate it. Can't seem to find the microsoft thread that showed me how to do it, sorry.
From my end I'll still spend time to hyperterminal to the Call Pilot, but for the client's CP my mistake was not using a crossover plugging directly into the CP the first time, it dawned at my when I was home that night, lol.
3 steps for Hyper
-Copy hypertrm.dll on your XP machine C:\Windows\System32\ (or download) and paste into the Win7 machine, same location.
-Copy hypertrm.exe on your XP machine C:\ProgramFiles\WindowsNT (or download) and paste into the Win7 machine, same location.
-Right click C:\ProgramFiles\WindowsNT\hypertrm.exe and create shortcut to desktop
