Hi folks,

imagine the following situation:

You got 2 machines.

Machine A crashes and machine B takes over the volumegroup (via importvg) without being able to export the vg on machine A. The volume group becomes changed during the time it runs on machine B.

Now machine A gets repaired, you export the vg on machine B and now want to re import it on machine A, where it never became exported from....

How exactly do you do it ?
I believe it's got something to do with "importvg -L" but how does this work ?
Would be simply have to enter the command or do we first have to do an exportvg on machine A followed by importvg -L ?

Thanks in advance !

Regards
Thomas

Yes,you HAVE to export the VG on the machine A,then import the VG from machine B to A using "importvg hdiskx". "Long live king Moshiach !"

You are right, the importvg -L ist exactly for this cas. "L" stands for learn !
You can use this command. You can export it on machine b but it is not important because an exportvg only changes definitions in the local ODM. So it is only important to vary the vg off on machine B. Then you can use the importvg -L , so the system A rebuilds its information in the ODM!
