Hi ya'll,

Short, straight & 2 da point: How do one goes about re-enabling the keyboard shortcut for "http:// ... .com" [Control]+[Enter]? Specs: Win98SE, IE6, etc. "Repairing" IE6 did nothing, as well as a quick registry tour. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hey,

Try these:

"Tools | Internet Options | Content (tab)"
and click "AutoComplete" and check the
"Web addresses" option.

AND

"Tools | Internet Options | Advanced (tab)"
and scroll down and check the "use inline
AutoComplete" option.

karmafree.

Karmafree,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to say it did nothing to re-activate the [C]+[E] "http:// ... .com" kb shortcut. It has something to do with the registry, yet still looking for the key to unlock it!

Peace [yingyang]

An update:

As suggested, it IS burried in the registry - when you have the time and drive to go huntin'! Under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\Auto Complete the value of the "Use AutoComplete" should read "yes" [sans the quotes] for the keyboard shortcut [CTRL]+ [ENTER] - which enter the " and ".com" values in the address bar - to be activated.

Happy trails!

Wow, I didn't know it was possible to disable a keyboard shortcut in IE. Do you remember how you did it in the 1st place?!

I read that this shortcut was disabled by a new security patch for IE6. I only noticed that this stopped working after an update. I will try the registry settings mentioned above! I miss CTRL+Enter a lot.

I just updated to the latest security patch (already had all the others) and my "Ctl/Enter" short cut never died. I agree - what would I do without it?
