I have a VPN setup between 2 BEFVP41's. Both routers have static IP's, one with cable and one with pppoe DSL. My speeds are 1.5mbps-down/256mbps-up at the DSL site and 2.9mbps-down/404kbps-up. My dsl router is hosting 6 simultaneous vpn connections and the other 5 are working well. The BEFVP41 is supposed to handle up to 50 simultaneous vpns.

I can run a constant ping through the VPN and it practically never times out. I can RDP to the outside static IP address, which is forwarded to an internal terminal server and the rdp session stays up and connected. If I rdp through the vpn, my rdp session is much slower and even times out. I have swapped out the BEFVP41 for another new one and get the same response. I have also just changed isp's from a previous DSL on pppoA to the new Cable connection.

I'm stuck, any ideas?

Which VPN client are you using? Cisco?

Have you tried disabling "transparent tunneling"?

I am using Microsoft RDP client. I have set to 256 colors, disabled mappings and toned down the "experience" tab to nothing. It should be customized for a 14.4 to 28.8kbps connection.

I haven't found where Transparent tunneling was an option.

Thanks.
