RDP not installed, Terminal services not working!

I did a fresh install of Windows 2000 Server. Then I install Terminal services. However, RDP is not installed even though I enabled terminal services. Normally this protocol is installed after one enables terminal services. I reinstall terminal services and RDP is still missing. I just cannot see RDP in the connection property of Terminal Service Configuration.
I dont know why this is happening. Please help.

I remember you need to use the "Terminal Services Client Creator". It's not just added as an icon.

I installed the client creator but I still cannot see RDP in the terminal service configuation manager. I hate to reinstall the whole server OS for this. Is there anyway I can install RDP?

I would think that reinstalling the OS would be overkill.

Anyone knows how to fix this problem??? I still cannot figure out why RDP is missing.

Or take a loom in this dir

C:\WINNT\System32\clients\tsclient

This dir can be shared or moved and shared for network installs.

It's much easier to just download the latest ver of RDP tho, it's just one exe and will work on any version of TS.

The problem is that there seems no place that I can download RDP. I tried on google and there were all client program downloads. I installed RDP client on the server but the terminal service manager still does not show RDP connection so no client can connect to the server.

Your mentioning terminal services manager alot. Are you saying that the "listener" for RDP is missing? If you go into terminal services configuration, can you add a connection for RDP 5.0?

(yay! shameless advertising. my side business)

No I cannot. I tried to add a new connection but the drop down menu is empty.
The listener for RDP does not exist.
I have windows server 2000 service pack 4 with all most update patches.

What are you listening for...another server on the network? All that it should find is and terminal servers and if not then sounds like a DNS issue. Try typing in the ip address of the server or pc you want to connect to. If this works then try the server name and if it doesn't then most likely it is DNS.

Interesting. Check this out,
Particularly the last 2 fixes...
"The Terminal device driver files may be corrupted or missing. Verify the existence of the Termdd.sys and Rdpwd.sys files in the %SystemRoot%\Sytem32\Drivers folder. Verify that the Rdpdd.dll and Rdpwsx.dll files are located in the %SystemRoot%\Sytem32 folder.

The TermDD service may be disabled. Open the registry and locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TermDD
Check the data setting for the Start value, which should be 2. If the value is set to 4, the driver has been disabled. Set the value to 2, and then restart the server computer."

I checked the last 2 fixes and both are good. All files exist and the registry key is set to 2.

I guess you might need to uninstall TS and re-install. The other option would be call MS and ask them. I run TS and have never seen that issue.

I did reinstall of TS for many times. I also used different CDs. I cannot understand why this is happening, too.
Guess I have to call MS. I just dont understand why MS will not let us download and install RDP by ourselves instead of bundled with the OS install.

Check this registry location and see if you have something missing.

My server's registry does not have RDP-Tcp at all.
What do I do here?
