I want to setup several of my field offices to use RDP to connect to our corporate office; I was thinking of using RDP and Win2K3 Terminal Services. I have about 10-20 users at each field office; however, my question is: how much bandwidth does each RDP connection use? We have a frame relay setup to connect field offices to corporate office.
I want to make sure that my bandwidth consumption at the field offices is not an issue if I was to use terminal services. Any of you know how much bandwidth does each RDP connection use?

Thanks :)

A good rule of thumb with a bit of a margin is 30kbit/s

Don't go right to the limit of the line with that though (even though there is a bit of leeway there, youll find that spikes will eat it)

In other words, 20 users = 20*30 = 600kbit..
a 512k ADSL won't cut it - remember, ADSL is different in both directions, unless you have SDSL
I'd say go for a 768k connection, in the direction you need.
although bear in mind you need this at both ends! going out of the office with the TS and into the office with the users :)

We are having performance problems running RDP over links that ran Citrix ICA protocol with no problems. We haven't resolved the issue yet But it looks like its bandwidth related though initial network stats don't show any great increase. So it may be worth allowing more bandwidth than you would for a similar ICA
Its not the answer you wanted, but its something to be aware of.

I find 64K (ISDN) the minimum per client - 56k works but it's a bit on the slow side - ensure that the terminal server end doesn't have a fancy wallpaper otherwise that eats up the bandwidth!!!
