Hello to All.
on monday the rcc server works for everything except report generating. i have worked with my vendor and we have applied all patches up to date. i have uninstalled completely rcc and sql reinstalled got the data and still reports freeze up the rcc. tried clean machine and we get the same issue. database checks out fine. live works fine. the issue is just clicking on any reports even system configuration report will freeze up anyone from trying to access the web pages for log in or even for logging out. any suggestions on what to do here. we need our reports to function.

Check the application event logs for any Mysql errors

If its not broke tweak it..

it is as clean as any windows event viewer.
i can use the rccuser and my password to connect to the mysql database as well.
i can browse the tables and i ran the nortel dbutil to verify tables are not corrupt.

Hi all, we are having this problem all over the place, it is a microsoft security update done to the computer that holds the rcc, and problably every computer on your network. We have been able to back track the problem to any patch(microsoft update from 1/09 to 2/15/09 you must back out all the microsoft updates and you will be all set

P.S. this will help..john
It was one of these:
KB890830
KB907417
KB936929
KB943729
KB954550-v5
KB959140
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1
Office 2003 Service Pack 3
Windows XP Hotfix WIC

You should be able to find out what was installed by checking Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer, then look in the SYSTEM Log for any informational entries with Source 'Windows Update Agent'.

These were automatically installed Wednesday 2/5, nothing worked Monday 2/9. Steve said he ran reports Friday which made me think it wasn't an update, but he may have been talking about straight from Call Center.

hot on the trail now my friends.

i see the .net update updates all the components of .net2.o to .net 2.0spk2 and installs .net 3.0 spk2 so far i have uninstalled all the updated .net files and it is running now on the rcc server. now i just get the active x error on workstation runn the viewer install. i will update shortly the culprit on the workstation if i have to uninstall anything.

ok,
no workstation updates need to be uninstalled. i just had to reinstall the npviewer that i have on the network from the rcc server and now it works on all the workstations.
i have to reinstall .net 2.0 for our call sweet call accounting software so i will let you know if that breaks it or not. i am thinking maybe it was either having .net 3.0 on the rcc server or it was .net 2.0 spk2. prior to the .net 3.0 the windows update was always failing on .net 2.0 spk2 install so this is narrowing down.

cool thanks for the update

If its not broke tweak it..

Hi Jen, glad that sent you on the correct track... where did you get a copy of just"npviewer"? let me know..jk

it is on the rcc server.
just search for npviewer.exe and then i copy it out to a network location so when i have a workstation that needs it i just install it from the network.

I tracked the problem down to the windows update for .net 3.5 spk1 that is a critical update from Microsoft for .net
It installs .net3.5 but it also updates .net 2.0 to spk2 installs .net 3.0 and .net 3.5
After I removed the .net 3.5 it does not roll back the remaining updates to the other .net products.
I had to remove all the .net products installed and then reinstalled each one back to get my call sweet call accounting software working.
I stopped at .net 2.0 and everything is working again.

i would avoid only the .net 3.5 spk1 update that was released by microsoft on patch tuesday. at least until nortel patches rcc to work with the new .net changes in this service pack.
