Hello,

I have extracted trunk traffic data from my switch but I need to know how to interpret it.

Thanks,

Gumpus

UNLESS YOUR INTO ERLANGS AND CCS I WOULD FORGET IT

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

Look in NTP: 553-3001-450. That will give you the output format of all the traffic reports. For the traffic studies my company runs, we average the data to give one trunking recommendation and we find the maximum busiest hour for each trunk group to make another recommendation. Perrypj is right, you need to know a little bit about Erlang B and Erlang C as well as CCS usage. My company's website has a traffic calculator you can play around with here:

Site Surveys
SourceBooks
Security Audits
Traffic Studies
Remote PBX Backups

Thanks for the info Arch. I will try and find that NTP. The CCS and Erlang doesn't bother me.

I was having trouble finding the NTP. Here's why.

553-2001-450 Traffic Measurement formats and output
Replaced by 553-3001-300

There was nothing explaining the output format. Any other suggestions?

Nope, already looked there. Nothing about on how to interpret the output, just input.

Sorry about that, back in 1979 thats where it was then when I had to do traffic studies. Then again there where only 4 books.
